Different Type Of Face Masks And Their Significance

Coronavirus has been the most significant threat that emerged in the year 2020, which has been the worst setback of its time. To combat the spread of virus, the mask has been re-introduced as a safety precaution. Though the mask cannot stop the spread of coronavirus, it can stop you from getting into contact with germs highly responsible for contracting the virus. 



Masks have become the new normal in personal or professional lives. It is one of the topmost health and safety industrial equipment as well.

Many people seem to be in a dilemma about the type of mask suitable for them. This blog will shed light on different types of masks and their significance.

Basic cloth mask

A basic cloth mask is the standard mask used in everyday life. It is the most common type of mask used in public in the midst of COVID-19. It can be used while you are going to a grocery store, gas station, and other public places. 

Surgical Face Mask

The surgical face mask is approved by FDA. It’s made of thin, disposable material. This mask is widely used by medical professionals who have engaged with Corona patients actively. This mask covers not only their nose and mouth but also their eyes, cheeks, and forehead. It can be commonly seen worn by doctors and therapists.  

N95 Respirator

This type of mask is not worn by the general public. It is critical for health care workers. They are recommended to be used while working directly with patients. 

Filtering Facepiece Respirator 

This type of mask is disposable like a surgical mask. It is mainly worn to decrease the exposure to particles from wood dust, animal dander, and pollen. People who are allergic can use this type of mask as it is useful for them. 

P100 Respirator/Gas Mask

This type of mask is worn by industrial workers who work with paint, lead, asbestos, or chemicals. However, it is not suggested to be used to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
